SCHOOL VISITS AND WORKSHOPS 2008-2009

ASSEMBLY DESCRIPTION: (Gr. K-2: 40 mintues/Gr. 3-5 50 minutes)

In my multi-sensory and interactive assembly, in accordance with California State writing standards, children will get an in-depth look at writing.  Using overheads, props and movement, I'll teach children about humor writing, story creation, the revision process, and receive writing tips.  I'll share how my own childhood and personal experiences have contributed to my becoming a writer.  Writing is fun!  That is the message I want kids to hear.

Note: Due to group size, I don't take questions from students during assemblies.  However, I will happily chat with them during classroom visits.

Post-Assembly Classroom Visits: Class visits (usually held in the library) with intermediate grades follow the assemblies and are done in a Q & A format (allowing the students and I to interact one-on-one).   This is where children can get an in-depth look at one author's life.
